If you’re lucky enough to find one of the earliest specimens, you could find yourself a quarter million dollars or more richer. This price is for an 1832 “capped bust” quarter, which has an overdate error. However, you’re more likely to find a 20th-century Washington quarter, first produced in 1932. These coins were made primarily of silver until 1964, when the U.S. Mint began using mostly copper quarters.
Some old silver coins can sell for very high prices. As GOBankingRates previously reported, a 1932 edition sold for more than $143,000. According to CoinValueChecker, it was graded MS-66, which is one of the grades given (grades range from 1 for the worst condition to 70 for the best condition).
